We discovered Phil's work through his social channel, his sketching of London storefronts and creative idea of using time lapse gathered a mass of followers. In our latest collaboration Phil used our T16 cream watch to create a sketch of a South West London florist Flowers By Van Twisk.
Please tell us how your Instagram account came to life
I started my Instagram account in the summer of 2018 to encourage me to start sketching and posting the results to see what people thought of my artwork. A year later and I had over 100k followers.
How did you come up with an idea of time lapse?
My video content has been the driving force behind the rapid growth of my account, and I've found the use of time lapse video really helpful in capturing my sketching process.
What is your favorite sketching subject?
My subject of choice are the buildings of London. I started off by walking the streets of Westminster looking for interesting houses and shops to sketch. I love recreating the details found in urban landscapes, in particularly brickwork texture and plant life.
Why did you choose the T16 cream watch for your time lapse ?
I really love the look of the T16 cream, with it's big face and chronograph features. It's a lovely, clear timepiece to feature in a timelapse to help display how much time is flying past as I sketch.
Any future exciting plans/subjects you’d like to feature in your work?
My current focus is London shopfronts and I'm exploring cafes, coffee shops, florists, and bookshops. Each week I produce a new sketch which I feature on my Instagram account and make available as an art print in my Etsy shop.
